As mentioned by Alan, Lisburn and Hillsborough Free Presbyterian Churches held a joint Creation Weekend, with speaker Paul Taylor from Answers in Genesis UK. I got my hands on the recordings thinking some people might have been interested but put off by the venue (as were a couple of attendees who left during the hymns and prayer but returned to hear Paul). This is his talk from Saturday night in Lisburn, entitled “200 Lost Years” it talks about the life of Charles Darwin and his legacy.
Apologies for the poor quality, it wasn’t me doing the video…

At times, there seems to be something up with his netbook … an awful lot of thumping to reveal the next line of text.
If I heard right, the talk – and I guess it’s only one of many over the weekend – basically deconstructs Darwin (he’s no saint and like most scientists, not perfect in his theory, method and interpretation) and then goes on to state that the Bible is correct. This then leads to a conclusion that Darwin/evolution is wrong. And some bits of science in-between. I summarise terribly!
I’m left unconvinced … but if I’m fair, I wasn’t really that open to being convinced.
Thanks for posting it. Food for thought.
You didn’t think I’d be able to resist this, did you?

Why is looking at nature proof that god exists any more than it is proof that a magic unicorn exists? I can’t explain x, therefore god is not a logical conclusion.
6:30
Atheism != evolution
8:20 on
Ad hominem attacks on Darwin & family as an attempt to undermine his opinions. This all ignores that evolution is independent of Darwin, he merely described the process by which it occurs.
21:35
No one, ever, anywhere, other than creationists who either don’t understand or wilfully misrepresent evolution, have said that evolution is one species “suddenly” turning into another.
22:00
Erm, seven of every kind of clean animal, not two. It would be nice if he could even correctly quote the Bible
22:35
Not 32000, 112000. We’ve discussed the unfeasibility of this already.
24:00
Back to ad hominem attacks
25:15
Everyone in the world who believes in evolution is racist? Really?
28:00
Half an hour of ad hominem attacks and he decides that “evolutionists” react to questioning by attacking those that question.
30:00
Just as mudskippers die when they are out of water? Not to mention that, again, the fallacy is that one day a fully fledged fish decided to move onto dry land.
Also, the best we can manage is to take pot shots at text books for 15 year olds?
We’re into abiogenesis here, even if this isn’t the origin of life it has zero bearing on evolution or natural selection.
35:00
“You have to believe evolution to prove evolution” No. Evolution is proven by the preponderance of evidence. Evolution is a result of looking at the evidence, not the other way round.
36:00
Wolves evolved into foxes, dingos etc. BZZZTT wrong. Although they shared a common ancestor over 35-40 million years ago. Dingos and Foxes cannot breed, dogs and foxes almost certainly can’t breed and the species have differing number of chromosomes. So either there was a species that has undergone speciation, which the video claims can’t happen, or he couldn’t even be bothered to do a little basic research before talking about his one example.
“We have to look through the world using godly glasses”. Sounds impartial.
Social Darwinism & Eugenics is irrelevant to evolution. Unless you want to get into god promoting hatred and intolerance.
So he understands, quite rightly, that Hitler completely misunderstood evolution, or at least perverted it to suit his goals?
Political ideologies and evolution are not related.
40:00
Again the Adam & Eve breaking the commandment without already having knowledge that not doing what they were told was wrong.
43:00
Sorry, couldn’t help but noticed the stunned silence of the audience.
Three quarters of an hour and, basically, he said nothing other than “evolution is wrong because it disagrees with the Bible, which we know is right because it is the word of god. We know the Bible is the word of god because the Bible tells us so”.
I was hoping for a least an attempt of proof.
