And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen’ that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen’ that we all were on their side.

As a Christian living in the UK, it seems that the song “Man in Black” by Johnny Cash, was never more relevant than it is now.
I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said…
All around us, our faith is being beated down and criminalised by minority groups who for so long have accused us of the same thing, even the government is supporting it.
The Cross has become a symbol of offence. How does our government choose to deal with the accusation? By caving in of course, anything that could possibly cause offence is immediately wrong in the eyes of our Nanny State, regardless of the absurdness (Winter Lights) of the claim.
I’ve calmly sat by as Northern Ireland goes nowhere fast, allowed our government to back an unjust war, which we cannot win…
I wear the black in mournin’ for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men…
…watched dangerous prisoners being released from jails, seen old people lying in hospital corridors, waiting for beds (at the same time as hospital wings are being closed)…
I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin’ in the hopeless, hungry side of town…
…But now that the PM has backed the new Gay Rights Laws, over both common sense and people’s belief, I have to make my voice heard. Yes, gay people have been discriminated against, I won’t deny it or pretend that Christians are one big happy pink family, Jesus may have loved outcasts, but He still had a problem with their sin! The hypocrisy of the situation is that the new legislation will actually allow for the deliberate reverse discrimination of religious groups, whose own way of life is now somehow considered second rate. WHY DO WE NOT COUNT? WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR RIGHTS AND EQUALITY?
I’m not homophobic, I was wearing a pink shirt tonight! I’m just really confused and dread to think what else this government plan on messing up. Dare I ask, can it get much worse?
Andrew
Ah, I’d love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything’s OK,
But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
‘Till things are brighter, I’m the Man In Black.
